Originally a UC Berkeley ESPM 155AC: Sociology and Political Ecology of Agro-Food Systems Project, this website was created by students Marita Jimenez, Laura May, Daniel Chow, and Ji Choi as a collaborative Cal community resource for those who seek to tackle the issue of food boredom. We believe food is a fundamental basic human right for everyone, and nobody deserves to have a sad or unhealthy meal, especially those who may experience food insecurity or malnourishment due to socio-political, financial, or environmental adversities. We decided to create a food recipe blog in which people of all demographics can lookup simple recipes to prep, cook, and share food that can be made from relatively available or simple ingredients that would be found anywhere including local food pantries, farms, edible gardens, or markets. This project highlights the importance of edible learning through shared knowledge towards food security, food justice, and food sovereignty.
If you are interested in adding onto our collection of recipes or local food resources in the Bay Area, please contact one of authors so we can continue to spread edible learning through shared knowledge! We hope anyone who views this blog can see it as an accessible and healing community support space for experiential culinary education.
